Meet Linda Adams of Santa Barbara, CA

“Green sustainable design
is always my priority.”

This Interior Designer Can
Beautify and Green Your Home

Linda discovered how to live sustainably in Berkeley, CA in the 1960s. Before there were any mainstream recycling programs or toxic-free cleaners, she was buying organic food at the local co-op and recycling her cat food cans. She quietly kept on the green path and eventually turned her passion into a career. She always tried to incorporate sustainable fabrics and work with eco-friendly companies, but it wasn’t until about four years ago that the interior design industry really began to integrate and encourage sustainability.

“Now, I love that my sustainable library of furniture catalogs, area rugs, carpeting, lighting, wall coverings, fabrics, paints and coatings is growing. I represent companies that make fabrics of organic cotton, wood, hemp, linen, silk and bamboo in sustainable factories. Presenting these alternatives to my clients is my delight,” Linda says.

To better understand her client’s perspectives and interests, Linda participates in many community organizations such as Built Green Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Contractors Association, Santa Barbara Referrals and Santa Barbara Green Drinks. These organizations allow her to continually learn new sustainable innovations and how to apply them to her business.

Through her own interior design business, Linda has been doing in-home consultations for years and is proud to add eco-consulting services to it. By adding Green Home Makeovers to her business, it allows her to assist clients with implementing green solutions in different areas of their lives.

Linda says, “Green Irene gives me another opportunity to spread the green word and teach my clients how to conserve energy, reduce household toxins, improve indoor air quality and reduce their waste.”

She uses her interior design skills and Green Irene’s resources and support to create surroundings that make her clients comfortable and happy.

“It’s my mission to give my clients a home they love coming home to,” Linda says, “With Green Irene, I’m able to not only do this visually, but also with solutions that echo the client’s environmental values.”
