About the Green Home Makeover Portal
The Portal is an interactive way for you to give yourselves credit for Green Home Initiatives you are currently doing in your home, to learn more details about initiatives Green Irene recommends, and to earn recognition for your sustainable lifestyle since the points you earn bring you to certain levels (ie Green, Silver, Gold Badge).
When you log into the Green Home Makeover Portal you will be presented with a series of questions (which we call "initiatives") about what you are doing in your home grouped by categories such as: Energy Conservation, Energy Efficient Lighting, Water Conservation, Water Purity, Toxic Free Living, Indoor Air Quality, Recycling, Waste Reduction, Carbon Footprint, Safety. Each Initiative in the Green Home Makeover Portal has a recommendations page that explains what needs to be done. You earn points towards different levels of recognition and can exchange ideas with your assigned Green Irene Eco-Consultant through "post-it" type notes on any of the Recommendations.
The Green Home Makeover Portal will show you have to save $1,000s and help lead your family to a healthier, safer and more sustainable lifestyle. Please note we have multiple services which we offer through the Green Home Makeover Portal. Navigating the Green Home Makeover Portal
My Initiatives: Mark as complete the tasks you are doing in your own home and develop your own personal road map to a greener life. This page lists all of the initiatives for the selected service. You can review which initiatives are under each status (Pending, Completed, Postponed) by selecting the appropriate button above the list. You can also organize the initiatives by Category or by Room using the tabs at the top of the list. For each initiative, you will see the recommendation (which you should click for more details), a preview of the details, the points earned for completing the initiative, and buttons to change the status (whether to Pending, Completed, or Postpone).
Detail Pages: Clicking on any initiative will bring you to its Detail page. More information on the initiative is listed, including detailed recommendations for action. The Details page may include links to the Ask Green Irene (AGI) knowledgebase for further information. The Detail page also include the Points for this Initiative (Investment, Environmental Benefit, Effort, and the Total point value.) Each is ranked on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being "low" (low financial investment to implement, low environmental benefit, low investment of effort to implement) and 5 being "high". Note the Total Point Value is a product of multiplying all three. Any individual initiative could result in a point total of "1" (1x1x1) or "125" (5x5x5). Recommended Products are listed in a column to the right. Clicking on the products will open a new browser window for that product whether sold by Green Irene or another trusted retailer.
Finally, this page allows you to change the status of the initiative by clicking on the appropriate buttons in the right column (Make Pending, Complete, Postpone). After changing the status, you will be brought back to the full list of initiatives. Make Pending means you inadvertently marked it as Complete or you had previously chosen to postpone it. Complete means you have completed the initiative and want to receive the points for it. If you have not completed it and you simply want to get it out of your Pending list because you have no plans to address it any time soon, instead choose Postpone. Postpone can mean "indefinitely" postpone as well : - ) There is a link at the top left above Point Scale to go Back to the List of Initiatives if you don't want to change the status (i.e. to complete or pending) at this time.
Earn Sustainable Lifestyle Achievement Badges in Green, Silver and Gold based on total points earned as you (or your client )COMPLETE each initiative in the Green Home Makeover. You can then customize the message that appears or by default it says the following: View My Green Scorecard. Click on view my Green Scorecard to see the Initiatives I have completed, and get ideas you can use for yourself! The Badge on your Wall links to a Green Home Makeover Scorecard (see example below) that shows specific initiatives you have completed on your green journey. Then post it periodically with a new comment to show all your friends the specific things you are doing to live a more sustainable lifestyle!
As part of your Green Home Makeover Portal membership you also have access to our Ask Green Irene database. Some entries are restricted to clients and some are public, but here is an example of some of the great information available there. Many Portal entries link to specific Ask Green Irene entries for further information.
